TIS Tronic 260U overview

What the TIS Tronic 260U controller does on a UNI 60 — fan modulation, pump control, three operating modes, hot water preparation and the safety chain behind it.

Updated

The TIS Tronic 260U is the electronic regulator that turns the UNI 60 from a wood stove into a controlled heat source. It modulates the combustion fan, runs the pumps, prepares domestic hot water, and reacts to a room thermostat — all from a colour LCD with six buttons.

Three operating modes

The mode determines what the fan is chasing.

ModeThe algorithm aims to…Needs exhaust sensor?
StandardReach the set boiler temperature, running two stages — Operation and Supervision — on fixed user settingsNo
Brager ExpertReach the set boiler temperature, automatically selecting optimal settings to match output to actual heat demandNo
Brager Expert exhaust gasesAutomatically select fan settings to maintain a constant exhaust gas temperatureYes (PT1000)

MBtek's recommended settings for the UNI 60 assume Brager Expert exhaust gases. Full detail on Operating modes.

Domestic hot water

The controller prepares hot water in Summer or Winter mode, with or without priority. In Summer mode the boiler's only job is the tank; in Winter mode heating and hot water run together. See Hot water.

The safety chain

The controller is not the last line of defence. Three layers act in order:

Maximum boiler temperature (user setting, MBtek recommends 80 °C / 176 °F). External devices such as the room thermostat are ignored until operation becomes stable, and fan control functions are disabled.

Boiler emergency threshold, 94 °C. The controller raises an alarm and switches to boiler protection mode.

STB bimetallic sensor on I1, ~90 °C. Hardware. It cuts the fan. Per PN-EN 303-5:2012 the fan cannot restart until the water is below 60 °C and the alarm has been manually reset.

Where the regulator may be used

The regulator must not be used for boilers operating in installations that do not comply with PN-EN 303-5. It is designed to control a central heating boiler that has its own independent safety system — for example against overpressure in the system.
