Daily operation
Running the UNI 60 day to day — loading the firebox, removing ash, watching pressure and temperature, and the habits that keep efficiency up.
Day-to-day, a UNI 60 needs one load of fuel, one ash removal and one glance at the pressure gauge. Everything else is weekly or seasonal — see the maintenance schedule.
The daily routine
Remove the ash
Every day, remove the ash from the boiler. The ash pan sits outside the unit at the front of the ash door.
Ash left in place blocks the grate and starves the fire of primary air.
Check the external state of the boiler
Check the boiler body, the controller, the sensors and the wiring, and clean them of dust.
Load the firebox
Turn the fan off first. Open the loading door slowly and stand to the side. Fill, then close the door tightly and restart the fan.
Check system pressure
Throughout the heating season, monitor pressure in the system. Working pressure must not exceed 15 psi.
Glance at the controller
Boiler temperature at or near setpoint, no alarm LED, pumps running as expected.

Good habits
These are the habits that separate a boiler holding 86 % efficiency from one drifting down into the seventies.
- Burn dry wood. 20 % moisture or below. Wet wood roughly halves the usable energy and tars the chimney.
- Load fully, then let it burn. A gasification boiler is at its best running hot into storage, not smouldering at low air.
- Do not open doors unnecessarily. Every opening dumps heat and disturbs the combustion the controller is managing.
- Keep the ash out. Daily.
- Keep the heat exchanger clean. Weekly in mid-winter — soot and ash on the walls reduce heat transfer and efficiency.
- Let the buffer tank do its job. If the boiler is constantly in supervision, the system is undersized on storage, not oversized on boiler.
When something is wrong
Shut down the boiler in case of a problem, and disconnect it from the mains before any repair, maintenance or cleaning.
If there is a fault in the electrical system — a short to the boiler body, deteriorating wire insulation — immediately disconnect the boiler from the power supply and call after-sales service for repair.
For a risk of explosion, ignition, gas contamination or fumes, follow the emergency procedure.
