Maintenance schedule
What a UNI 60 needs daily, weekly, mid-winter and seasonally — ash, heat exchanger, air ducts, chimney and the electrical check, in one table.
Soot and ash deposits on the walls reduce heat transfer and efficiency — everything in this schedule exists to prevent that, or to catch a fault before it becomes a failure. Shut the boiler down from the mains before any repair, maintenance or cleaning.
The schedule
| Frequency | Task |
|---|---|
| Every day | Remove ash from the boiler |
| Every day | Check the external state of the boiler body, the controller, sensors and wiring; clean of dust |
| Every day | Check system pressure |
| Weekly | Clean and scrape the surface of the furnace and the loading chamber |
| Weekly | Clean the air ducts in the combustion chamber with a suitable tool |
| Weekly | Brush the top of the heat exchanger clear of soot |
| At least weekly in mid-winter | Full boiler cleaning |
| Regularly | Inspect and clean the chimney |
| Before the heating season | Check wire condition, regulator fastening; clean the controller of dust |
| During the heating season | Repeat the electrical check |
| End of season | Deep clean, chimney sweep, leave the system full, protect against frost |
| Before any repair | Disconnect from the mains |
Why weekly, and why mid-winter
Deposition depends on the fuel, the chimney draft and the operating mode. Wood deposits more than coal, and a boiler running long and cool in deep winter deposits most of all. That is exactly when the cleaning interval needs to be shortest.
Who may do the work
For maintenance and operation of the boiler, a person familiar with the device and the rules of operation of this type of equipment is allowed.
Warranty repairs can only be performed by a specialised organisation — the installer, service centre or distributor accredited by the manufacturer. At the time of performing a warranty repair, the equipment must be cleaned of soot, tar and other contaminants, and the customer undertakes to provide all facilities and access.
Checks that catch problems early
If there is a fault in the electrical system — a short circuit to the boiler body, deterioration of wiring insulation, and so on — immediately disconnect the boiler from the power supply and call after-sales service for repair.
Check the availability of draft in the chimney by presenting a strip of paper to the ash pit. The paper strip should deviate to the side of the ash pit. Make sure the ventilation openings for inflow and exhaust have not been restricted or blocked.
Throughout the heating season, monitor the pressure in the system. Air must be removed during the first weeks of operation.
Sealing cord is a consumable and is not covered by warranty. A leaking door lets uncontrolled air in, which defeats the controller's air management.
Scale reduces heat transfer by 10 % per millimetre and is not covered by warranty. If you have been topping up frequently, find the leak — repeated fresh fill water means repeated fresh hardness.
Consumables
These parts wear and are explicitly not covered by warranty:
- sealing cord (door gaskets)
- cast iron grate
- handles
- bolts and nuts
- brush and scraper
- controller fuse
